Hi all.  I’ve put up a list of the drills and techniques that we covered in the Seminar (I’m sure we did over 15 hours of training and learning!woo!).  With each drill if there is a corresponding video I have embedded or place a link for you to view it.

First of all a quick video Introduction to Southern Mantis (in this video you can see the Doy Chong, Back and Gow Choy conditioning):

1. Basic Foot work and steps

a. Forward / Back

b. Cross step (45 degree angle)

c. ½ forward step

2. Basic hand movements (Used with forward and backward steps and combinations)

a. Deflection hand (Cye Sau)

b. Clamping (Dow Sau)

c. Locking hand / Wing (Saw Sau)

d. Sinking-elbow hand (Chum Chung Sau)

e. Inside / Outside Circle hand

f.  Elbow Pick

3. Basic Attack Drills (single, 2 person, pads)

5.  Fighting Combinations

a. Inside slap block, back fist, clear, drop elbow, push away
b. Inside slap block, back fist, figure 4 arm lock & eagle claw, take down, gow choy
c. Upward Diu Sau, pull down neck strike, inside forarm strike, elbow
d. Double arm claw, kick and palm
e. Tan Kui strike, Phoenix eye to throat, finger strike to eye, soc sau arm pull, shoulder bash (arm break)
f. Tan Kui strike, Phoenix eye to throat, cover phoenix eye strike, elbow, back neck strike,elbow
g. Inside wrist strike follow to phoenix eye to temple,cover hammer hand to elbow, phoenix eye to temple
h. step out kick inside thigh, shin strike, achilles kick, elbow to throat
i. Inside wrist strike, cover and back fist, larp sau, palm

6. Chin Na 10 Lock Flow Drill

7. Kicks and Knees (also twisting legs from the ground)

8. Seed form – 3 Step Arrow Punch – Saam Bo Gin

9. Nine hand drill

1. Bow Chong (cover hand, meaning to wrap up)
2. Gau Choi (hammer fist to come down)
3. Poc Jeung (palm)
4. Doa Sau (spring/clamp hand)
5. Fun Sau (clear)
6. Larp Sau (snatch hand)
7. Poc Jeung (palm)
8. Got sau (cut back hand)
9. Chic Jeung (chop palm)

Think thats all of it, if not please comment and I will add it to this.  We covered A LOT so I can only say train it, practice it and please make sure your form, structure, posture and technique is correct ( I can help there).
