Train Drain
Journey from Kerala can be quite droll travelling by train; 16 hours, alone, can take its toll. I know I know, there’s always the sights and scenery which I must say still is spectacular when it comes to Kerala. Got to love the place, it doesn’t change too much, greenery wise. But there comes a point when boredom can finally get the better of you.
So that’s when my mind started working. Pretty empty compartment and one guy sleeping on the side, so no one to bother me. I look around and start seeing everything in the compartment as something to help me with a workout. Start off with pushups (I know I know my favourite of course). Of course I’m not going to do it on the floor. I put my legs on either side of the lower berth and my hands on either side. Quite a feat, helps you learn to balance, stretches you and then gives a nice pushup workout
Next exercise, Pull ups. Using the upper berth (yes I needed to bend my knees), finish 3 sets of pull ups. Wow, now I’m feeling so much better travelling in the train.
Next using the upper berth as parallel bars, I rest my forearms and proceed to do leg lifts. Finishing that set I decided to take a ‘Break’. Thank God for empty compartments. After resting a while, I hook up the middle berth and transform it into another parallel bar. And then use it to work on my triceps.
Ahhh, what a relief, feeling all happy, I lie down and finish it up with some easy abs (boat), holding the position for a while and then go to sleep all happy.
Unfortunately, a major station arrives then and people pile on like there’s no tomorrow so have to move back to a corner but with no regrets. Train journeys sure help you discover a lot
Dude, I totally have done the exact same thing! I have to put some video clips up of it.
